Arizona pothole.
Threw on the spare, and Discount Tire in Flagstaff should have me back on the road in about an hour. Not as bad as it could be, but I am not happy.

Any wheel damage?

Well that’s annoying. Those sidewalls look very thin!

Wow, at least it happened near civilization.
Also, I’m not even gonna say I predicted a flat tire in AZ. Nope.

Should be driving a Golf Country;

Dang that’s quite the rip.

You are just another victim of the mostly-aesthetic fad that is huge wheels and rubber band tires

Ouch.

well, that sucks.

At least you had a spare.
Also you could go down to 15” wheels. My brother in law’s GSW came with 15” steelies when he bought it. He got some 17” OZs for the summer tho

I just realized this in a GTI and you probably can’t go smaller than 17”s but that would still be better than 18”s

Hence the reason why when I replace the tires on my Fit sport in the coming months
, I’m not sticking with the lower profile tires on 15" wheels (in a weirdish, 195/55
R15 size).
I’m getting some used 14" aluminum wheels and tires that are about the same diameter as OEM, just with more sidewall.

That is the one thing I do not miss about GTI ownership. Never had a flat or blowout before and had 3 with that car. Only one since but that one I deserved.
